Emberfall Legacy
Emberfall Legacy is the kind of RPG that respects your time without dumbing itself down. You lead a party of four across a hand-drawn continent, fighting in a classic turn-based system where positioning and status effects matter more than raw stats. The writing is warmer than expected, and the companions actually grew on us over the twenty-odd hours we spent with it.
Combat is where it shines. Every enemy type has a tell, and stacking debuffs before a big hit turns tough fights into puzzles. The difficulty curve is fair, with an optional harder mode for people who want their brains squeezed. All of it works offline, saves included.
The one gripe is the inventory management, which gets fiddly late-game when your bags overflow. But the story pulled us through, and the ending stuck with us for days.
What we liked
- Deep turn-based combat with meaningful status effects
- Likeable, well-written party members
- Full campaign playable offline
